Reef Fish ID guide

This ID guide is our attempt at putting together a comprehensive guide of reef fish species caught in the Maldives for both commercial and subsistence purposes. The guide consists of images of reef fish, along with their common name, scientific name and the most commonly used local name. We recognize that the local names used by fishermen may differ across different parts of the country and that each name has a unique meaning, story and/or history attached to them. We welcome any and all suggestions, edits and additions to this guide. In the meantime, we hope that this guide suffices as a useful starting point for anyone interested in fisheries management in the Maldives.
