Laamu Fisheries Forum 2022 Report

In December 2021, Maldives Resilient Reefs and Blue Marine Foundation partnered with Laamu Atoll Council to hold the first ever Laamu Fisher Forum, bringing together over thirty fishers from 9 inhabited islands and representing eight different types of fisheries. The three main groups – pelagic, reef and invertebrate fishers discussed their perceptions, challenges and goals for their respective fisheries in breakout groups. The discussions from the forum have been compiled to this report which we believe may be useful to policymakers in their planning.
